#ColdcardSeedFlaw This incident highlights an interesting fact: cold wallets are not "invulnerable." Many people assume that simply storing Bitcoin in a hardware wallet guarantees absolute safety. In reality, however, if the seed phrase is generated with insufficient randomness, assets can still be stolen—even if the device has never been connected to the Internet. Even more concerning is that a firmware update cannot fix a seed that was generated with a flaw. If the key was weak from the start, the update only protects wallets created subsequently. In my view, following this incident, the community will focus not only on which cold wallet to use but also on how that wallet generates its seed phrases. In the world of Bitcoin, security is not just about the device itself; it begins the very moment the private key is created.
