The biggest mistake in trading isn’t being wrong. It’s being right—but too late. I recently came across an interesting view: in the next Bitcoin bull cycle, MicroStrategy’s strategy may change the way $MSTR moves. The argument is that $MSTR may no longer have that explosive, almost “two feet stepping in sync” relationship with Bitcoin. If that happens, maybe buying Bitcoin directly will eventually make more sense than buying $MSTR. Honestly, nobody can prove or disprove that thesis today. We’ll only know when the next cycle actually plays out. But there are two things I think we shouldn’t ignore: 1. Volatility matters. Bitcoin doubling from here would put it around $130,000, breaking its previous high. For $MSTR to simply double from here, it would need to reach around $200. Those are two completely different paths with very different volatility profiles. 2. Time matters even more. Maybe the bearish thesis on $MSTR eventually turns out to be correct. But what if it’s only proven in the middle or late stages of the next Bitcoin cycle? By then, Bitcoin could already be sitting around $130K, while $MSTR may have simply recovered its previous high. Bitcoin could keep climbing from there while $MSTR fails to follow. And that’s the part traders often underestimate: A thesis can eventually be correct and still be useless if your timing is wrong. Think back to early 2023. We were still debating L2s, modular blockchains, and countless narratives that eventually lost their momentum or proved far less important than expected. Markets don't reward you for predicting what will be true five years from now. They reward you for being positioned correctly during the period when the market actually cares. So for me, the question isn't simply: “Will $MSTR outperform Bitcoin in the next cycle?” The better question is: “For how long will that thesis remain valid—and when does it stop being valid?” Every trading decision should have a time limit.
