🧠 A Different Perspective on ETH Staking After discussing this with @jdetychey, I think I understand the argument better. Here’s how I see it: If a very large percentage of $ETH becomes staked, it could create unintended centralization risks. For example, if staking reaches around 50%, the remaining ETH holders may feel pressured to stake simply to avoid dilution. Over time, staking rewards could become less meaningful, pushing users toward the largest and most liquid LSTs or centralized staking providers. Solo stakers could also face pressure from taxes and operating costs, potentially making staking less attractive and pushing more activity toward large entities. There’s also tail risk: if one LST or staking provider becomes too dominant, a major security incident could create systemic problems and potentially force difficult decisions for the Ethereum community. Finally, if most ETH is staked, the pool of unstaked ETH holders becomes smaller, potentially reducing the social layer’s ability to resist censorship or unwanted chain changes by a dominant staking entity. I don’t necessarily agree with every point, but I think these are legitimate risks worth discussing. What do you think?
