Western Union is linking remittances with on-chain settlement through a Solana-based stablecoin issued by Anchorage. Its card arrangement with Rain and Visa adds a familiar payment interface, but distribution and repeat usage will determine whether the product reaches meaningful scale.
Mastercard's planned BVNK acquisition, valued at up to $1.8B, shows that competition is moving from experimentation toward infrastructure ownership. Adoption evidence remains more important than the number of announced partnerships.
