The hardest lesson I ever learned wasn’t how to make money… it was realizing that yesterday’s winning strategy can become tomorrow’s biggest mistake.
Back in the last bull cycle, buying a basket of fresh listings worked almost perfectly. A small position turned into life-changing gains because the timing, liquidity, and market sentiment all lined up. It’s easy to believe you’ve found a formula when everything keeps going your way.
That’s exactly where the trap begins.
When the next cycle arrived, I wanted to repeat the same play. I rotated almost everything into altcoins, expecting history to rhyme. It didn’t. Instead of multiplying my stack, I watched it shrink month after month. Deadass, the market wasn’t the same—I just refused to admit it.
Looking back, I don’t think the previous success was only skill. Timing, liquidity, and a little luck all played their part. And luck is the one thing you can never copy.
That’s why I’m much more skeptical whenever someone says, “Just do what this millionaire did.” Most legendary trades only make sense in the market conditions where they happened. Copying the result without understanding the context usually ends with someone else paying the tuition.
These days, I’d rather adapt to the market in front of me than chase a strategy that already had its moment. Surviving different cycles is worth far more than repeating one lucky chapter.
