đš $BTC HOLDERS ARE MOVING COINS AGAIN â BUT DONâT CALL IT SELLING YET. đ
Bitcoinâs 30-day average Coin Days Destroyed (CDD) has started climbing after falling to a two-year low.
Thatâs an important change in behavior.
CDD measures the movement of previously dormant Bitcoin. When older coins move after sitting untouched for a long time, the metric rises â making it useful for tracking long-term holder activity.
Normally, a sharp CDD increase can raise a red flag:
Are long-term holders starting to distribute? đ»
But this time, the data needs more context.
A significant portion of the recent increase appears linked to the Coldcard-related security event, which prompted some holders to move their $BTC for security reasons rather than immediately selling it.
The timing is notable.
đ LTH spent UTXOs also jumped toward the end of July, broadly coinciding with the same period.
So the current signal may be telling us:
Old coins are becoming active again â but activity â distribution.
That distinction is critical.
The next confirmation should come from the behavior of those coins after they move.
đ If CDD keeps accelerating and exchange inflows rise alongside evidence of distribution, selling pressure could become a much bigger concern.
đą If CDD cools as security-related transfers fade, the recent spike may prove to have been largely structural rather than bearish.
For now, Iâm watching the follow-through, not panicking over one metric.
Bitcoin holders are moving.
The bigger question is:
Are they moving to protect their coins â or preparing to sell them?
That answer could matter far more than the CDD spike itself. đ„
