The tension is not simply ETFs versus futures; it is the quality of demand behind the next move. U.S. spot BTC and ETH ETFs drew about $1.1B on Aug 3-7, led by roughly $854M for BTC, before BTC ETF flows turned negative again on Aug 10-14.
Meanwhile, BTC futures open interest reached about 765,820 BTC, worth roughly $49.2B, with positive funding pointing to a heavier long bias. My read: leverage can support momentum, but without renewed spot absorption it also makes the market more sensitive to modest selling. A rebound backed by returning ETF demand would therefore look structurally stronger than one driven mainly by derivatives. Not advice, just analysis.
