Apple’s reported testing of CXMT DRAM deserves attention, but the immediate signal is less about supplier replacement than procurement leverage. With Micron, Samsung and SK hynix still serving as its main memory suppliers, even a credible additional option could strengthen Apple’s position in supply and pricing discussions. The market impact remains highly conditional. Test performance, purchase volumes and U.S. approval would all need to align before vendor shares or tight DRAM supply expectations materially change.
