Didn’t sell my $SOL — I’m still waiting for $80 and want to give this trade a little more time. Checked the position this afternoon with SOL around $76.49, showing roughly +14% in floating profit. I decided not to close and am still holding. I also went through the latest news, and Solana definitely seems to have some interesting developments brewing. The community is currently pushing two governance proposals: one would increase the daily SOL burn from 650 to roughly 7,500–9,000 SOL, while the other aims to accelerate inflation reduction, bringing the 1.5% target forward to 2029. If both proposals move forward, they could potentially reduce SOL issuance by around 18.9 million tokens over the next six years, equivalent to roughly $1.36B at current prices. There’s still a voting threshold to clear before August 18, requiring 65.16M SOL in support. So far, about 24.94M SOL has been committed, meaning there’s still a significant gap. Helius alone has contributed more than 16M SOL. The on-chain picture is also encouraging. Last week, non-voting transactions surpassed 1.01 billion, setting a new record. More importantly, the activity was driven mainly by DeFi, stablecoin transfers, and consumer applications rather than meme-coin speculation. Fundamentals have been improving while price has lagged for some time. SOL is still trading around $75 and remains below its 50-day and 100-day moving averages. Technically, holding the $75–77 area would be important. If buyers can defend that range, $80 becomes the next level to watch. SOL has tested $80 several times without a clean breakout.
